Hello, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, checking in with a report on the next stop on our trade show itinerary. Licensing Direct™ is pleased to announce that we will be participants in the 2010 edition of the International Home and Housewares Show at the McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois. This terrific event has long been a very successful staple of our event calendar, and has yielded several valuable manufacturing leads over the years.

As per their official website, the Housewares Show estimates that this year’s proceedings will attract over 60,000 attendees and over 2,000 exhibitors. In addition, over 6,000 international buyers from 100 countries on 6 continents are expected. As customary, the show will be divided into 4 major categories: Clean and Contain, Dine and Design, Wired and Well, and an international pavilion entitled Global Crossroads.

This event has long been a particularly beneficial one for inventions in the household, lawn and garden, cleaning, pet, and even automotive and hardware industries, due to the considerable diversity of exhibitors, and we expect this year to be the most successful yet. Check in with us on the Licensing Direct™ Blog for all future updates regarding this terrific event!

Late Monday evening, the Licensing Direct™ representative managing the Innovation Direct™ account of AAPEX Show 2009 exhibitor Trillium Worldwide received an e-mail reply from his contact at the firm regarding the feedback he’d requested on the preliminary, non-confidential information our colleague had recently sent him on 10 inventions from our roster.

Good morning, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, back in with an update to begin our week. Earlier Monday, the Licensing Direct™ representative managing the interest displayed by Minnesota-based Cambridge Metal and Plastics in a pet product from our roster received an e-mail update from the inventor regarding the outcome of the company’s review of the detailed design information about the concept. We’d reported on our most recent attempt to follow up with Cambridge directly in a posting this past Friday (http://licensingdirect.com/blog/?p=1414).

As per the communication received from the inventor, she had received an e-mail from the manufacturer representative some time ago letting her know that while he liked the invention overall, the company had opted not to move any further with it. Accordingly, we will continue our quest for licensing success on behalf of this concept through other potential licensees.

Greetings, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, checking back in with another report. Earlier Friday, the Licensing Direct™ representative managing the interest in a pet accessory from our roster displayed by Minnesota-based Cambridge Metal and Plastics sent a follow-up e-mail to his contact at the firm regarding their pending feedback on the detailed design information they’d been provided about the invention in January. We’d reported on our initial attempt to follow up with Cambridge regarding this product idea in a January 26th entry (http://licensingdirect.com/blog/?p=1362).

As we’d explained previously, the manufacturer had signed a non-disclosure agreement for the concept after having initially been contacted about it by the inventor. With several weeks having passed since the access to the detailed materials were first sent, and over 2 weeks having passed since our first follow-up effort, our aforementioned colleague felt it would be prudent to reach out again at this point.

Stay tuned to the Licensing Direct™ Blog for all future updates regarding this situation!

Earlier Friday, the Licensing Direct™ representative managing the initial interest displayed by Illinois-based Schutt Sports in a football training accessory from our roster sent a follow-up e-mail to his contact at the firm requesting an update on whether or not the company planned on returning the non-disclosure agreement they’d been sent for the invention. We’d initially reported on this situation in a January 14th entry (http://licensingdirect.com/blog/?p=1412).

We are certainly hopeful that Schutt will return the confidentiality agreement so that detailed design information can be provided to them, but only time will tell. Check in with us often on the Licensing Direct™ Blog for any and all future updates regarding this situation!

Hello, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, back in the saddle with another report regarding a response to today’s Innovation Direct™ e-mail campaign with ERA member companies. Thursday afternoon, Licensing Direct™ received e-mail correspondence from New York-based Product Strategies, Inc. confirming that they would be willing to review new product idea information from our roster on an ongoing basis. The company had been one of the entities in the group of ERA companies that were part of Thursday’s e-mail campaign (http://licensingdirect.com/blog/?p=1408).

As per their correspondence, Product Strategies would mainly be interested in reviewing items in the household, kitchen, and home improvement categories. Their aim is to develop and market products that could realistically retain in the $20-$30 range, and they prefer to review inventions that already have some sort of patent protection.

As per their official website, Product Strategies is a fully integrated direct response company that can truly bring a product from concept to reality. We are therefore naturally enthused with the potential a relationship with this company holds, and work on their initial Innovation Direct™ package will begin soon.

Check in with us often on the Licensing Direct™ Blog for any and all future updates regarding Product Strategies!
