Our industry partner went on to emphasize that all of the companies he’s dealing with are very focused on products that have a very eye-catching “wow” factor to them.

Earlier Friday, the Licensing Direct™ representative managing the Innovation Direct™ account of a California-based automotive products manufacturer sent the company president an e-mail request for an update regarding their continued evaluation of the one invention from their latest Innovation Direct™ package that they’d taken an advanced level of interest in. With exactly one month having passed since that point, our aforementioned colleague felt it would be prudent to request an update.

As per an e-mail reply received from the manufacturer late Friday afternoon, the company president himself is curious to know where his engineers are with the review of the product idea, and had coincidentally just sent an e-mail inquiring about the matter earlier in the day. Hello, Juan C. There is still a chance the concept will begin to generate some interest, but only time will tell. Any and all future updates regarding the product will certainly be found right here on the Licensing Direct™ Blog. Check in often!

Licensing Direct™ requests, receives update from California-based licensee of IDDO Back Support…

Good afternoon, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct’s Director of Product Licensing, checking back in with our latest report. Earlier Thursday, Licensing Direct™ requested and subsequently received an update from the California-based licensee of a personal safety product targeted to the hardware, construction, and manual labor industries by the name of the IDDO Back Support. The manufacturer, which specializes in the manufacture and marketing of a variety of hardware and tool accessories, had signed a licensing agreement for the invention back in August 2005.

The company had kept in touch with us for about a year and a half after that point, with our last contact with them coming in the spring of 2007. At that time, they had explained that they had some safety concerns as it related to consumer use of the product and that they would be getting back to us shortly thereafter with more information. Subsequent follow-up attempts by Licensing Direct™ proved unsuccessful, so it was determined that the time was right to once again request an update.

We are pleased to report that we did receive a rather prompt reply from the company president, who explained that while they had not given up on commercializing the invention, they were still working on redesigns to address safety concerns, even after all this time. The correspondence also went on to emphasize that because of the current economic climate, they are not even going to attempt to launch any new products at this time but will continue to work behind the scenes to eventually bring it to market.

Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, checking in with an update on a situation we’d last reported on in a March 18th posting (“Update: Licensing Direct™ facilitates conference call with inventor of fitness accessory and Las Vegas-based Innovation Direct™ infomercial company…“). Earlier Thursday afternoon, Licensing Direct™ received a copy of an e-mail that the inventor of the fitness accessory that was the subject of that entry had also sent to the Las Vegas-based infomercial company that has displayed an advanced level of interest in his concept. The correspondence mainly consisted of the more detailed product description and benefits/features breakdown the manufacturer had requested in the conference call that took place on March 18th.

The inventor did provide a good overview of the invention’s potential benefits and also included a graphic that highlighted the muscles of the body his product targets. One suggestion that our colleague replied to the inventor with was that he provide further detailed explanation of the particular muscle growth stimulus that the product’s unique range of motion would invoke.

We now await the potential licensee’s response to the information provided and will certainly bring you further details on that as warranted, here on the Licensing Direct™ Blog. Check in frequently!
