Update: Licensing Direct™ requests feedback from Texas-based plumbing products company regarding possible signing of exclusive developmental licensing agreement, receipt of inventor’s prototype…

Good evening, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, back one last time on a very busy Friday with an update. Earlier in the day, the Licensing Direct™ representative managing the Innovation Direct™ account of a Texas-based plumbing products company sent an e-mail request for follow-up regarding a couple of matters to the firm’s Director of Strategic Initiatives. Incidentally, we had most recently reported on this company in a February 25th posting (“Update: Licensing Direct™ receives confirmation from Texas-based plumbing products company regarding receipt of latest Innovation Direct™ package…“).

The communication asked the manufacturer representative to confirm whether or not his company’s legal department had approved of the signing of the exclusive developmental licensing agreement document for the plumbing product they retained an advanced level of interest in. Additionally, it also asked for verification on whether the prototype of the item the inventor was supposed to send to them had already arrived at their offices.

We hope to hear positive news on both matters by early next week. As soon as we do have any details we will convey them, here on the Licensing Direct™ Blog. Check back in often!

Update: Licensing Direct™ receives response from India-based company regarding 48 hour deadline given; further response expected next week…

Hello, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, back with an update on a situation we had just reported on just yesterday (“Update: Licensing Direct™ provides India-based sporting goods manufacturer with 48 hour deadline to provide feedback on licensing proposal…“). Earlier Friday, the Licensing Direct™ representative who has been managing the long-standing advanced level of interest displayed in sporting goods accessory by an India-based company received a reply from an employee of the manufacturer regarding an e-mail that had been sent on Thursday that placed a 48 hour deadline on a response to a licensing proposal that had been sent to them.

As per the e-mail response received, the owner of the company, who the note had been intended for, is temporarily out of the country but will apparently be responding soon after his return. We are cautiously optimistic about the fact that the manufacturer took the time to respond to the e-mail instead of allowing us to assume they were no longer interested in licensing the product, but still will wait to determine whether or not this latest development signifies true progress in the right direction.

The Licensing Direct™ Blog will continue to be the space for any and all updates to this situation, so check in frequently!

Update: Licensing Direct™ sends follow-up letter and second copy of non-disclosure agreement regarding balloon novelty product to Texas-based company…

Good evening, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, chiming in with an update on a situation we had last reported on in a January 28th entry (“Licensing Direct™ inventor’s novelty balloon item catches the eye of Texas-based manufacturer; non-disclosure agreement sent…“). Earlier Friday, the Licensing Direct™ representative that originally sent the non-disclosure agreement that was reported about in that posting sent the Texas-based company that had expressed an initial interest in a balloon novelty item follow-up communication.

The manufacturer had initially expressed an interest in seeing detailed design information on the product idea in late January after having reviewed preliminary, non-confidential materials they had received. With a month having elapsed since the original document was sent, we felt it would be prudent to send a letter and second copy of the confidentiality agreement.

We hope to be able to report good news regarding this situation soon. Join us here on the Licensing Direct™ Blog for the latest on any happenings!

Update: Licensing Direct™ requests, receives feedback from California-based automotive products manufacturer regarding latest Innovation Direct™ package; one invention from group subject of advanced level of interest…

Hello, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, checking in once more with yet another Innovation Direct™-related update. Earlier Friday, the Licensing Direct™ representative managing the Innovation Direct™ account of a California-based automotive products manufacturer requested, and subsequently received, feedback on the detailed design information he’d sent them on 8 product ideas from our roster. We had most recently reported on on our follow-up attempts with this company in a February 4th posting (“Update: Licensing Direct™ requests and receives follow-up report from California-based Innovation Direct™ automotive products company…“).

As per the response received approximately two hours after the request for an update was sent this morning, the company retains an advanced level of interest in 1 out of the 8 concepts from the group. As the communication from our contact went on to explain, he would be meeting with his firm’s chief engineer about the product idea, as the invention is a somewhat complex concept related to greater engine and fuel efficiency in hybrid vehicles.

We look forward to receiving this company’s next report on their continued evaluation of the invention and will bring you the details of any feedback we receive, here on the Licensing Direct™ Blog. Check in often!

Update: Licensing Direct™ sends follow-up letter and second copy of non-disclosure agreement regarding lawn and garden concept to Indiana-based manufacturer…

Good afternoon, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, checking back in with our latest update. Earlier Friday, a follow-up letter and second copy of a non-disclosure agreement was sent to an Indiana-based manufacturer that had expressed an initial interest in a lawn and garden accessory from our roster almost one month ago. In fact, we had reported on this situation for the first time in a January 28th posting (“Licensing Direct™ inventor’s lawn and garden accessory subject of initial interest from Indiana-based manufacturer; non-disclosure agreement sent…“).

As we’d explained at the time, the company had requested more details about the concept after having reviewed preliminary, non-confidential information they’d received in the mail about it. As per our customary procedure, a non-disclosure agreement was sent to the manufacturer at the time, in order to make the divulging of detailed design information a possibility. With almost 30 days having passed since that point and the signed guarantee of confidentiality still not having been received, we felt it would be prudent to attempt follow-up communication at this point.

If and when our efforts result in the return of the signed document we will bring you an update, here on the Licensing Direct™ Blog. Stay with us!

Update: Licensing Direct™ still trying to confirm conference call regarding fitness accessory will take place tomorrow…

Hello, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, checking back once more with a quick update on a situation we had just reported on in a February 24th entry (“Update: Conference call regarding Licensing Direct™’s fitness accessory reset for this coming Friday…“). Earlier Thursday, the Licensing Direct™ representative that has been managing the advanced level of interest being displayed in a fitness accessory from our roster by a Las Vegas-based Innovation Direct™ infomercial company sent a follow-up email to his contact regarding the pending conference call scheduled to take place tomorrow.

As we’d explained in the aforementioned posting, the inventor had originally requested the call take place today, but that been rendered impossible due to the manufacturer representative’s schedule. However, the company contact had indicated any day except for today would have been fine this week, so the inventor had indicated that tomorrow would be the most feasible day for him to participate. This information had been immediately communicated via e-mail to the manufacturer on that date but as of earlier this afternoon, no confirmation had been received, hence the need for a second attempted communication.

If the call does indeed transpire tomorrow we will naturally bring you the details, here on the Licensing Direct™ Blog. Check back with us frequently!

Update: Licensing Direct™ provides India-based sporting goods manufacturer with 48 hour deadline to provide feedback on licensing proposal…

Hello, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, checking back in once again with another update. Earlier Thursday, the Licensing Direct™ representative that has been managing the advanced level of interest demonstrated in a sporting goods instructional accessory by an Indian manufacturer for the last year and a half sent the company president an e-mail providing him with a 48 hour deadline to provide feedback on a licensing proposal for the invention he had originally been sent on December 3rd (“Update: Licensing Direct™ sends detailed licensing proposal for sporting goods invention to India-based manufacturer…“).

The strict time frame was a result of a conversation earlier in the day between the inventor of the product and our aforementioned colleague. In a February 2nd posting (“Update: Licensing Direct™ makes third attempt at follow-up with India-based company regarding licensing agreement draft…“), we had explained that the decision had been made to send a letter via international mail to the manufacturer informing him that he would no longer have rights of first refusal over the concept if we did not receive an e-mail response to the follow-up attempt that was made on that date. However, during today’s earlier conversation, the inventor and our colleague agreed that placing a specific and time-sensitive deadline would be a more prudent course of action at this point.

We will certainly be getting back to you soon with the news of whether or not this latest communication and strategy had the desired effect. Join us here on the Licensing Direct™ Blog for the latest!

Update: Licensing Direct™ sends follow-up e-mail to California-based Innovation Direct™ tool manufacturer…

Hello, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, checking back in with another update. Earlier Thursday, the Licensing Direct™ representative managing the Innovation Direct™ account of a California-based tool manufacturer sent a follow-up e-mail to his contact at the firm regarding the preliminary, non-confidential information they’d been sent on 10 product ideas in their initial package. We had reported on the sending of this batch of concepts in a January 29th posting (“Licensing Direct™ prepares, sends 10 invention Innovation Direct™ package to National Hardware Show 2008 lead…“).

The company, which was a fellow exhibitor at the May 2008 National Hardware Show, had expressed an interest in reviewing inventions from our roster on a regular basis in previous conversations. We are hopeful of receiving a prompt reply to our communication and will certainly update you if and when we do, here on the Licensing Direct™ Blog. Stay with us!

Update: Licensing Direct™ receives signed exclusive developmental licensing agreement from Florida-based manufacturer for cleaning accessory; prototypes and demonstration DVD to be sent by inventor tomorrow…

Hello, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, back once again with an update on a situation we had just reported on earlier this week in a February 23rd entry (“Update: Licensing Direct™ receives response from inventor of cleaning accessory regarding manufacturer questions; company also agrees to join Innovation Direct™ program…“). Late Thursday afternoon, Licensing Direct™ received a signed exclusive developmental licensing agreement from the Florida-based manufacturer that was the subject of that posting, and that had been expressing an advanced level of interest in a cleaning accessory from our roster. The document has already been faxed to the inventor for his signature.

As we’d explained previously, the manufacturer has expressed a desire to review the sample of the invention first-hand, as well as to see a demonstration DVD the inventor has put together. Now that the exclusive developmental licensing agreement has been received, the inventor will be shipping these materials to the manufacturer tomorrow. The inventor has also already sent the licensee manufacturing cost and wholesale/retail pricing estimates that had been put together regarding the product idea some time back.

We are enthused by the fact that this manufacturer is sufficiently committed to the invention so as to sign the agreement, and we look forward to working together further with them in the coming weeks. Join us here frequently on the Licensing Direct™ Blog for the latest happenings!

Update: Licensing Direct™ receives confirmation from Texas-based plumbing products company regarding receipt of latest Innovation Direct™ package…

Hello, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, back once more with a quick update. Earlier Wednesday afternoon, the Licensing Direct™ representative managing the Innovation Direct™ account of a Texas-based plumbing products manufacturer received an e-mail from the company’s Director of Strategic Initiatives confirming that he’d received the batch of 5 inventions that had been sent to him this past Monday. We had reported on the preparation and sending of this package in a February 23rd posting (“Update: Licensing Direct™ sends 5 invention Innovation Direct™ package to Texas-based plumbing products company…“).

As per the correspondence received, the company representative has been out of town and therefore not had a chance to review the preliminary, non-confidential material on the product ideas. However, he did emphasize he would back in his office tomorrow and therefore expected to be able to provide fairly prompt feedback on the concepts. Additionally, we also expect to hear back from him regarding the expected signing of an exclusive developmental licensing agreement for an item from their initial package that they have already expressed an advanced level of interest in, and that we had last reported about in a February 20th posting (“Update: Licensing Direct™ requests update on possible signing of exclusive developmental licensing agreement from Innovation Direct™ plumbing products company; search for next Innovation Direct™ package also initiated…“).
