Licensing Direct™ begins Innovation Direct™ campaign with exhibitors of SHOT Show 2009…

Hello, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, back in the saddle with another update. Earlier Friday, Licensing Direct™ began its follow-up campaign with exhibitors from the recently completed SHOT Show 2009. The event, which features the outdoor, hunting, and shooting industries in particular, was a very expansive one and as such, there are a great deal of companies located within the official show guide to contact. A combination of telephone and e-mail communications was attempted today, and we were able to identify a handful of manufacturers that are not looking to accept inventions from sources external to their companies. We also have a handful of companies that we have left messages for or sent e-mails explaining our Innovation Direct™ progam, and from whom we hope to hear from next week.

Licensing Direct™ representatives also took the opportunity to attempt to initiate contact with a company that was a fellow exhibitor at the International Home and Housewares Show and who manufactures and markets a wide variety of household products, including cleaning solutions and accessories. We certainly hope that our efforts pay dividends next week in the form of some responses and new members in our Innovation Direct™ program.

We will continue our follow-ups next week and will bring you any and all relevant updates on here on the Licensing Direct™ Blog. Stay tuned!

Update: Licensing Direct™ receives new report from West Coast-based industry partner regarding company’s interest in fitness accessory…

Hello, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, checking in with our latest update. Earlier Friday, the Licensing Direct™ representative managing the Innovation Direct™ account of our often mentioned West Coast-based industry partner provided us with a follow-up report regarding the interest that was being shown in a fitness accessory by one of the companies he does business with. We had initially reported about this situation in a January 27th posting (“International Technology Transfer inventor’s fitness accessory subject of advanced interest via West Coast-based industry partner…“).

As per the e-mail received Friday from our industry colleague, the company’s interest in the invention remains, but is somewhat lessened by the fact that there is not a physical working prototype of the item. The contact at the company informed our industry partner that it was acceptable for him to show the invention to other potential licensees, but certainly did not close the door on the project completely.

This is a situation still in flux and as such, we will continue to bring you updates here on the Licensing Direct™ Blog as appropriate. Incidentally, this same product idea is also the subject of a very strong interest from a Las Vegas-based Innovation Direct™ infomercial outfit, a fact that we last reported on in a January 26th posting (“Update: International Technology Transfer receives response from Las Vegas-based Innovation Direct™ company regarding 9 inventions reviewed; 1 item from group subject of advanced level of interest…“).

Licensing Direct™ prepares, sends 10 invention Innovation Direct™ package to National Hardware Show 2008 lead…

Good evening, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, chiming in with another update. Earlier Thursday, the Licensing Direct™ representative that will manage the Innovation Direct™ account of a California-based tool company that was a fellow exhibitor at last May’s National Hardware Show prepared and sent preliminary, non-confidential information on 10 product ideas from our roster that he thought would be potentially good matches for the manufacturer’s product lines. We had initially reported on this company and our attempts to have an introductory telephone call with them in a December 2nd entry (“Update: International Technology Transfer set to add California-based tool manufacturer to Innovation Direct™ program; initial package to be prepared soon…“).

As we’d explained in that posting, we had not been able to have a detailed phone conversation with the company contact but were going to attempt to reschedule the call. Conflicting schedules and other obstacles have not rendered that possible, so earlier Thursday, our aforementioned colleague opted to prepare and send the company their first package in the interest of not delaying matters any further.

We will certainly keep you abreast of any developments, here on the Licensing Direct™ Blog. Check in with us often!

Update: Licensing Direct™ receives feedback from New York-based consumer products Innovation Direct™ company on latest package…

Hello, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, checking in with our latest update. Earlier Thursday, we received feedback from the New York-based consumer products company that we had recently sent a 12 invention Innovation Direct™ package to. We had most recently reported on this situation and this company in a January 19th entry (“Update: Licensing Direct™ prepares and sends 12 invention Innovation Direct™ package to New York-based consumer products company…“).

As per the e-mail correspondence received today, the company is not interested in obtaining access to the detailed design information on any of the items in the group. Our contact, the Director of Merchandising for the firm, explained that they are currently focusing on inventions that would be a good fit for television infomercials. Consequently, this latest batch of concepts were not an adequate fit, since they consisted of food and drink accessories that would sell for a lower price point than what television-based marketing would require.

Naturally, we will recalibrate our searches for this manufacturer to fit what their stated criteria and will bring you the details on any developments, here on the Licensing Direct™ Blog. Check back with us!

Hello, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, back in the saddle with another update regarding an invention garnering interest from a manufacturer. On this occasion, the concept is a novelty balloon item and the company is a Texas-based outfit that manufactures and markets balloons of all types along with other products, such as kites, flying disks, and party goods. According to their official website, they are also members of the Advertising Specialty Institute (ASI), an organization of promotional product manufacturers and distributors which holds trade show events that Licensing Direct™ has participated in in the past, most recently in July 2008.

The company had received preliminary, non-confidential materials about the invention several weeks ago and had apparently found those to be sufficiently intriguing so as to request access to all of the detailed design information about the concept. In response, a non-disclosure agreement was sent that if signed, will allow us to grant them access to the confidential information available regarding the invention.

Licensing Direct™ inventor’s fitness accessory subject of advanced interest via West Coast-based industry partner…

Hello, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, checking in with our latest update regarding a fitness accessory we had just reported about yesterday (“Update: International Technology Transfer receives response from Las Vegas-based Innovation Direct™ company regarding 9 inventions reviewed; 1 item from group subject of advanced level of interest…“). It seems like this is the week for that invention, as earlier Tuesday, our West Coast-based industry partner informed us that a company he deals with has taken a strong interest in the invention after having reviewed the detailed design information about it on its invention website, and having also viewed a virtual reality presentation that displays the product’s functionality.

The interested outfit is a rapidly growing company that is closely affiliated with a multi-billion dollar developer and marketer of some of the most successful consumer products in infomercial history, as per that entity’s official website. In fact, it appears that the owner of the manufacturer interested in the fitness item is a family member of the principal of the more established and profitable company. We are certainly enthused by the potential that this latest interest offers, and hope to be eventually be able to bring you a report about licensing success for this invention.

Update: Licensing Direct™ offers further clarification to New York-based Innovation Direct™ company regarding confidentiality policies upon request …

Hello, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, checking in with an update on a company we had just reported on yesterday (“Update: International Technology Transfer requests and receives update from New York-based kitchen products company regarding 9 inventions in initial Innovation Direct™ package…“). Earlier Tuesday, the Licensing Direct™ representative managing the company’s Innovation Direct™ account received a request for more clarification from his contact regarding why we needed for them to sign a non-disclosure agreement before viewing detailed design information on the concepts.

Our colleague reminded the manufacturer’s representative that the majority of the inventions that our company represents are still conceptual in nature and therefore unpatented, hence the need for confidentiality to be guaranteed in writing before any detailed information was divulged. To conclude his e-mail response, our colleague also expressed our company’s hope that our need for a non-disclosure agreement to be executed would not prevent the business relationship from moving forward.

We now await this company’s response and will certainly bring you the details when and if we receive a reply, here in the Licensing Direct™ Blog. Stay tuned!

Update: Licensing Direct™ makes potential headway towards long sought-after feedback from Califoria-based Innovation Direct™ company regarding 15 inventions…

Good evening, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, checking back in with our final update for a busy Monday. Earlier this afternoon, we made potential progress towards obtaining feedback from a California-based Innovation Direct™ company that had been a fellow exhibitor of our company’s at last March’s International Home and Housewares Show, and which had received preliminary, non-confidential information on 15 product ideas from our roster last April. We had most recently reported on our latest attempt to obtain an update from this manufacturer in a December 17th entry (“Update: International Technology Transfer persistent in attempt to obtain closure on 15 inventions from California-based Innovation Direct™ company…“).

In a conversation today with our West Coast-based industry partner, he happened to mention that this infomercial company was actually one of the manufacturers he called on personally out in California, where he resides. After further deliberation, it was decided that he would make an attempt to personally follow up with the company on our behalf during his next meeting with them, which is imminent. While this does not guarantee that anything will be accomplished, we certainly feel it puts the entire situation in a much better light than it where it currently stands.

We will certainly update you if and when we do finally receive an update on this situation. Join us frequently on the Licensing Direct™ Blog for the latest!
