Good evening, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, checking in with our final update for what has been a momentous 2008. Our final report of the year involves a Michigan-based manufacturer that had expressed initial interest in a food packaging accessory several weeks ago, and had been sent a non-disclosure agreement by one of our representatives as a result. With over a month having passed since we had provided the company with an opportunity to sign a guarantee of confidentiality in order to subsequently be able to view detailed design information on the product idea, we felt it would be prudent to send a follow-up letter and second copy of the non-disclosure agreement at this point. We are hopeful this attempt will prompt them into action and will certainly report on any developments in this space.

Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, chiming in on a Tuesday with an update on a situation we had intially reported about in a November 20th entry (“International Technology Transfer inventor’s cleaning product subject of initial interest from Pennsylvania-based company; non-disclosure agreement sent…“). Earlier Tuesday, Licensing Direct™ sent a follow-up letter and a second copy of a non-disclosure agreement to a Pennsylvania-based manufacturer regarding a cleaning accessory they had expressed initial interest in on the date of the aforementioned posting.

The manufacturer had taken an interest in learning about the product idea after reviewing preliminary, non-confidential information about it, and had been sent a non-disclosure agreement in order to make the eventual dissemination of detailed design information a possibility. With over a month having passed since that point, the time was certainly appropriate for a second attempt to engage them regarding the matter.

Earlier Friday, Licensing Direct™ received a response of initial interest from a Wisconsin-based manufacturer regarding an organizational accessory from our roster. The company, which according to its official website has been in business for 15 years, specializes in the manufacturing and distribution of products that use the material that this invention would be made from.

As per our standard procedure, an Licensing Direct™ representative has already sent a non-disclosure agreement to the company contact via e-mail in response to their request for more information. If and when the signed guarantee of confidentiality is executed by the manufacturer, we will be at liberty to provide them access to all of the detailed design information available on the concept.

Earlier Friday, Licensing Direct™ sent an Australian manufacturer of children’s products a follow-up letter and second copy of a non-disclosure agreement regarding a stuffed animal invention that they’d expressed initial interest in. With 30 days having passed since the guarantee of confidentiality had been placed in the company’s hands, the Licensing Direct™ representative managing the situation felt it would be prudent to send the follow-up correspondence. As per the communication received, the gentleman will be providing us with his feedback on the invention press release and product features after the holiday season has passed. Hello, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, checking in one final time on a busy Tuesday with a report on yet another invention being the recipient of initial interest from a manufacturer. This time it is a school supply-related concept that has captured the attention of a renowned Ohio-based company that has been making, marketing, and distributing these types of products for over 60 years, according to their official website.

The company’s awareness about the invention was prompted by the inventor herself, who had e-mailed them several days ago to inquire about their policies regarding the submission of inventions to their company. She had received a response from the Vice President of Research and Development, who had requested any preliminary, non-confidential information available first. This request had been forwarded to Licensing Direct™, and the representative managing the situation promptly sent the company contact the requested materials, along with a non-disclosure agreement.

As explained to the manufacturer representative via e-mail, the non-disclosure will need to be signed if the company finds the non-confidential materials they will review of sufficient interest so as to warrant a request for more information. Earlier Tuesday, we received a response via e-mail from our contact at a Minnesota-based manufacturer that had taken an interest in an automotive accessory from our roster a few weeks ago, and that had been sent access to all of the detailed design information about it after having signed a non-disclosure agreement. As per the e-mail communication received, the company is trying to determine some more details on the physical dimensions and the materials that the inventor envisions their product idea possessing. The Licensing Direct™ representative managing the situation has already left a message for the inventor regarding this inquiry and we are hopeful of receiving a return call in short order.
