Update: Licensing Direct™ receives update from New Hampshire-based manufacturer regarding tool accessory…

Hello, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, checking in with an update on a tool accessory from the Licensing Direct™ roster that we’d most recently reported on in a May 30th entry (“Update: Licensing Direct™ receives response from New Hampshire-based Innovation Direct™ company regarding infringement analysis results on tool invention…“). In that posting, we explained that a tool accessory that was already the subject of an exclusive developmental agreement with a New Hampshire-based manufacturer had received a favorable patent infringement analysis, and that the company had been pleased with the results. We had also mentioned in that entry that the company president had mentioned that they were presently working on multiple projects but would be concentrating on the Licensing Direct™ inventor product idea soon.

Late Monday, the Licensing Direct™ representative managing the situation received another e-mail update from the manufacturer. The correspondence indicated that the company has received so many tool-related inventions from various sources that they are interested in developing that they have had to go back to request additional funding from a financial partner. The gentleman emphasized that he would start developing the tool accessory from the Licensing Direct™ roster as soon as possible after receiving the funds.

Naturally, we will continue to report on any developments with this situation as they transpire, here on the Licensing Direct™ Blog. Stay with us!

Update: Licensing Direct™ receives long-awaited feedback from Ohio-based Innovation Direct™ company regarding 15 inventions…

Good afternoon, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, checking in with our initial update for the week. Over the weekend, the Licensing Direct™ representative managing the Innovation Direct™ account of an Ohio-based industrial products company finally received word back from his contact regarding their impressions of the preliminary, non-confidential information that was sent to them in early May on 15 product ideas from the Licensing Direct™ roster. We had most recently reported about our attempts to follow up with this company in a June 26th entry (“Update: Licensing Direct™ attempts another follow-up with Ohio-based Innovation Direct™ company regarding initial package sent…“).

As per the e-mail communication received on Sunday afternoon, the company does not have further interest in any of the 15 concepts reviewed. At the same time, the manufacturer has requested a new package of ideas to review as soon as we have the opportunity. Therefore, the Licensing Direct™ representative managing their Innovation Direct™ account will proceed to search for a new batch of items as soon as possible.

Licensing Direct™ inventor’s personal accessory recipient of initial interest from Texas-based manufacturer; non-disclosure agreement sent for signature…

Good afternoon once again, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, checking in once more with yet another report of an Licensing Direct™ inventor product idea generating interest. On this occasion, the invention is a personal accessory that helps regulate some vital body functions that has caught the eye of a manufacturer. The company is a Texas-based firm that according to their official website, has been in business for 35 years and that has developed and manufactured thermoelectric coolers and subsystems for the aerospace, defense, medical, and commercial markets among others.

The company apparently took an interest in the Licensing Direct™ inventor’s concept after receiving preliminary, non-confidential information about it in mid-May. One of the company’s representatives then placed a call to Licensing Direct™ to request access to all of the detailed design information about the product idea, and as a result, the non-disclosure agreement was sent via e-mail earlier this afternoon to facilitate that process.

If and when we receive the signed guarantee of confidentiality in return from the manufacturer we will inform you, here on the Licensing Direct™ Blog. Check in often!

We are hopeful that the letter will elicit a response, but only time will tell. Stay tuned to the Licensing Direct™ Blog for news on any developments!

Earlier Thursday afternoon, the Licensing Direct™ representative of an Ohio-based industrial products company attempted to follow up with our contact the company for the third time regarding the initial Innovation Direct™ package they’d received on May 7th (“Update: Licensing Direct™ sends 15 invention Innovation Direct™ package to Ohio-based company…“). We had most recently reported on our follow-up attempts with this company in a posting on May 30th (“Update: Licensing Direct™ attempts telephone follow-up with contact at Ohio-based company regarding initial Innovation Direct™ package sent…“).

As was the case on the previous occasion, our contact at the company was unavailable and a voice mail message was left. In relaying this information to the readers of the Licensing Direct™ Blog, we also want to make note that this is a very realistic example of a minor but typical obstacle that can be encountered when pursuing an invention to market. The reality is that many companies are often busy with their own existing products and business, and it will require multiple attempts to garner any insight as to where one’s product idea is within their evaluation process.

Update: Licensing Direct™ receives signed confidentiality agreement from Las Vegas-based Innovation Direct™ company for 14 inventions; access to detailed design information sent…

Hello, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, checking back in with an update on a situation we had most recently reported on in a June 17th entry (“Update: Las Vegas-based Innovation Direct™ company provides Licensing Direct™ with long awaited feedback on 21 inventions reviewed…“). As we’d explained in that posting, a Las Vegas-based Innovation Direct™ infomercial company that had preliminary, non-confidential information on 21 Licensing Direct™ inventor product ideas in hand since late July 2007 had recently gotten back in touch with us, and had provided us with long-awaited feedback on which concepts from the group were of further interest. The manufacturer had designated 14 inventions from the batch for more detailed review on June 17th, and we had been trying to work out confidentiality terms since that point.

That issue was resolved earlier Thursday, and the Licensing Direct™ representative managing the company’s Innovation Direct™ account was therefore able to send our contact at the company access to all of the detailed design information available for each idea. Update: Licensing Direct™ receives 3 signed exclusive developmental licensing agreements for computer accessories from New Jersey-based company…

Hello, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, checking in with an update on a situation we had just reported on yesterday (“Update: Licensing Direct™ set to secure exclusive developmental agreements on 3 computer accessories with New Jersey-based manufacturer…“). As we’d explained in that posting, Licensing Direct™ was expecting a New Jersey-based company that works closely with our West Coast-based industry partner to sign exclusive developmental licensing agreements for 3 computer accessories from our roster. Those agreements were returned signed by the manufacturer today, and will be sent to the inventors for signature tomorrow.

As we’ve explained on other occasions, an exclusive developmental licensing agreement does not guarantee licensing success for an invention but certainly provides the time frame and opportunity for the company signing it to give the concept a fair and thorough evaluation.
