Update: Licensing Direct™ receives response to follow-up from Oregon-based manufacturer regarding medical accessory…

Good afternoon, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct™’ s Director of Product Licensing, checking back in with another update regarding a situation we had most recently reported on yesterday (“Update: Licensing Direct™ attempts follow-up with Oregon-based manufacturer regarding information sent on medical accessory…“). As we’d explained in that entry, an Licensing Direct™ representative had placed a follow-up call to the principal of an Oregon-based manufacturer that had recently been sent preliminary, non-confidential information on a medical accessory for the Licensing Direct™ roster on the recommendation of a Florida-based company that had recently reviewed the idea.

A return call from the secretary at the company that a message had been left with yesterday stated that the gentleman that serves as our contact had apparently not received the initial e-mail containing the information, and requested it be resent. Accordingly, earlier Friday, the original e-mail was forwarded once again and this time, the company representative did confirm receipt almost immediately. In his reply, he also requested more information on the degree of product development and market research the inventor might have performed. The Licensing Direct™ representative managing this situation promptly replied and informed him that the inventor had a prototype and 26 years of experience in the medical industry but otherwise did not have additional research done on the invention as of yet.

We now await the manufacturer’s reply and signing of the non-disclosure agreement for the invention. We will continue to keep you updated every step of the way with this situation, here on the Licensing Direct™ Blog. Stay tuned!

Good afternoon, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, checking in with our first update for a Friday. Earlier Friday, the Licensing Direct™ representative managing the Innovation Direct™ account of a New Hampshire-based tool manufacturer received a response to the e-mail he’d sent the principal of the company requesting his impressions of the infringement analysis concerning a tool invention from the Licensing Direct™ roster. We had just reported on this situation yesterday (“Update: Licensing Direct™ seeks update from New Hampshire-based Innovation Direct™ company regarding infringement analysis results provided earlier this month…“).

In his response, the company representative explained that he had received the documentation and reviewed it, and was pleased to see that there was likely no issue with the Licensing Direct™ inventor’s product idea infringing on the patent rights of another similar item. At the same time, the gentleman explained that he’d been overwhelmed recently with other tool projects but would be concentrating on the further development for this particular invention soon.

We are pleased to report that matters seem to be unfolding positively in this case, and that licensing success is still a very real possibility. As soon as we have news of any further developments we will bring you the details, here on the Licensing Direct™ Blog. Stay tuned!

Update: Licensing Direct™ sends e-mail to Ohio-based Innovation Direct™ company regarding pending exclusive developmental agreements for 2 inventions…

Hello, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, checking in one final time on a momentous and eventful Thursday. Late Thursday evening, the Licensing Direct™ representative managing the Innovation Direct™ account of an Ohio-based kitchen products manufacturer sent an e-mail to our contact at the company regarding the pending return of exclusive developmental agreements on 2 inventions from their initial Innovation Direct™ package. This is the same situation we had most recently reported on in a May 23rd entry (“Update: Licensing Direct™ sends exclusive developmental agreements on 2 inventions to Ohio-based Innovation Direct™ company; additional research to be conducted on both items…“).

As we’d explained in that posting, the company had expressed an advanced level of interest in 2 of the kitchen items from that package, and that they wanted to review the prototype of one of the products first-hand, as well as have updated patent searches conducted on both inventions. The company had been informed that Licensing Direct™ would gladly explore these possibilities but needed the company to execute exclusive developmental agreements for the product ideas first. A copy of an agreement for each of the concepts was sent attached to that e-mail sent on May 23rd, but as of this writing, they had not been returned.

The follow-up e-mail sent Thursday evening requested that the company inform Licensing Direct™ if they had any pending questions regarding the signing of the agreements. If and when we receive a reply to our inquiry we will bring you the details, here on the Licensing Direct™ Blog. Join us tomorrow for the latest on all matters!

Update: Licensing Direct™ seeks update from New Hampshire-based Innovation Direct™ company regarding infringement analysis results provided earlier this month…

Good evening, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, checking in once again on an extremely busy Thursday. Earlier Thursday afternoon, the Licensing Direct™ representative that has been managing the advanced level of interest being shown in an Licensing Direct™ inventor’s tool product by a New Hampshire-based Innovation Direct™ company requested an update from the firm’s principal regarding his impressions of an infringement analysis that had been recently completed by an independent registered patent attorney regarding the product and another similar patented item. This analysis had been forwarded to the company representative earlier in May, and we had reported on the situation in a May 15th posting (“Update: Licensing Direct™ receives results of legal analysis regarding tool product that is subject of exclusive developmental agreement; interested manufacturer provided with copy of findings…“).

As we’d explained in that entry, the independent patent attorney’s concluding opinion was that there was no infringement issue between the Licensing Direct™ inventor’s design and the patented item. As we’d also stated in the posting, we were certainly hopeful that this represented the removal of a potentially major obstacle toward licensing success for this product, and we were looking forward to their feedback.

Needless to say, as soon as we receive any communication we will bring you the details of it, here on the Licensing Direct™ Blog. Join us frequently!

Licensing Direct™ inventor’s property protection accessory subject of interest from Arkansas-based manufacturer…

Hello, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, checking in with an update on yet another Licensing Direct™ inventor’s product idea receiving interest from a manufacturer. Earlier Thursday, Licensing Direct™ received a signed non-disclosure agreement with respect to a property protection accessory from an Arkansas-based company that had taken an interest in the invention after reviewing preliminary, non-confidential information about it back in late March.

The company had initially requested additional information in mid-April and had been sent a non-disclosure agreement at that time, but had failed to return it as of mid-May. As per Licensing Direct™ procedure, a follow-up letter with a second copy of a non-disclosure agreement was sent to the company at that point, and the signed document arrived in our offices earlier today.

Access to all of the detailed design information available on the invention has already been sent to the company representative via e-mail, and we now await his feedback. Once we have any details regarding this we will bring it to you, here on the Licensing Direct™ Blog. Make our space a frequent stop!

Hello, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, checking in with an update regarding a fitness accessory from the Licensing Direct™ roster. Earlier Thursday afternoon, a request for an update regarding the invention’s possible candidacy as an infomercial product through a New York-based Innovation Direct™ outfit was made of our contact with the company. We had most recently reported on this situation within an April 16th entry (“Breaking News: Licensing Direct™ receives feedback on 3 inventions stemming from New York-based Innovation Direct™ company’s Invention Commitee meeting…“).

As we’d explained in that posting, the company had informed us that they retained a serious interest in the invention after having discussed it at a company-wide meeting. They had also emphasized that they would be having discussions about it with a television producer and would keep us abreast of further developments.

Since we had yet to hear back from them regarding this specific product idea since that point, the Licensing Direct™ representative managing their Innovation Direct™ account felt it would be prudent to attempt to make contact this afternoon. Update: Licensing Direct™ receives return phone call from inventor of kitchen accessory regarding New York-based Innovation Direct™ company’s questions; information relayed to manufacturer…

Hello, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, checking back in with another Innovation Direct™-related update. Following up on a situation we had most recently reported on in a May 27th entry (“Update: Licensing Direct™ receives feedback from New York-based Innovation Direct™ company on 4 inventions under review…“), the Licensing Direct™ representative managing a New York-based company’s Innovation Direct™ account has received a return call from the inventor of a kitchen accessory that was the subject of additional questions from the manufacturer.

After a recent review of the invention’s detailed design information, our contact at the company had asked that we get in touch with the inventor regarding whether or not there was an existing prototype for the invention. The manufacturer had also forwarded a couple of additional inquiries about the product’s functionality and requested we direct them to the inventor as well. Accordingly, the Licensing Direct™ representative managing the situation had placed a call to the inventor that same day, and earlier Thursday, received a return call. In the ensuing conversation, the inventor confirmed she did not currently have a working prototype, but did respond to the other questions the manufacturer had.

Licensing Direct™ promptly relayed all of the information culled during the call to our contact at the company in an e-mail earlier Thursday, and we now await their response. As part of Licensing Direct™’s correspondence to the manufacturer, it was emphasized that we could conceivably arrange to have an interactive virtual reality presentation for the invention created in lieu of a physical prototype. This approach has served this company’s purposes as well in the past, particularly with a Licensing Direct™ inventor’s fitness accessory that they continue to evaluate for a possible infomercial.

We had not received any reply from the company since that point and as a result, felt it would be prudent to place a phone call to the company to determine if the information had been received. A message was left for the company president with his secretary and we are hopeful of receiving a return call by tomorrow.
