Update: Licensing Direct™ receives update from inventor regarding manufacturer’s interest in his product…

Hello, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, chiming in with our second and final Monday report here on the Licensing Direct™ Blog. Earlier Monday, we received e-mail communication from the inventor of a medical accessory that has been the subject of interest from a Massachusetts-based manufacturer. The inventor’s correspondence was in response to a request for an update Licensing Direct™ had made of him on Friday, which was the same day we most recently reported on this situation (“Update: Licensing Direct™ seeks update from inventor of medical accessory regarding interest from Massachusetts-based manufacturer…“).

As we’d mentioned in that posting, Licensing Direct™ had originally spoken to the Executive Vice President of the interested manufacturer several weeks ago after he’d evaluated the detailed design information available on the idea. Due to the fact that the company had specific questions about the product’s functionality, we had agreed to have the inventor contact him. Since we had not heard back from the inventor since that point, we had decided to follow up with an e-mail on Friday.

The inventor explained in his response that he had indeed spoken to the manufacturer, and the aforementioned representative had explained to him that the inventor’s current design would prove to costly to manufacture. By the same token, the suggestion was made to the inventor in that conversation that he try modifying the design and present the new information to the company once it was ready.

Accordingly, the inventor has agreed to send Licensing Direct™ a rendition of the changes, after which a professional digital rendition of the modified version will be put together. Once this is completed, we will follow through on providing the company access to the invention information once again.

Licensing Direct™ closes out 2008 Hardware Expo and Construction Products Exhibit with busy afternoon…

Good evening, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, checking in one final time regarding the 2008 Hardware Expo and Construction Products Exhibit. The story of this year’s event, which marks the 2nd year that Licensing Direct™ has participated in some capacity, is the leap up the show seemed to take over last year in number of both exhibitors and attendees.

As our trade show contingent, traffic at the Licensing Direct™ booth was consistent throughout the 3 days, even with the proceedings transpiring over a weekend. Additionally, as evidenced by all of our previous postings regarding the show, there appeared to be an impressive array of renowned companies in the hardware and tool industry on hand, with other industries certainly also well represented.

One of Licensing Direct™’s principal beliefs regarding trade shows is that the true value of the contacts made is often not seen until months later at the earliest. The possible benefits of forging relationships with many of these companies come into clearer view after they are able to review Licensing Direct™ inventor product ideas for an extended period of time.

Join us throughout the upcoming week as we detail the beginning of our follow-up efforts with the contacts made at this outstanding show!

Accordingly, Licensing Direct™ representatives will be following up with this company as soon as possible next week to begin the process.

Productive conversation with trucking accessory company closes out Day 2 of Hardware Expo and Construction Products Exhibit for Licensing Direct™…

Hello, Juan C. Blanco, Licensing Direct™’s Director of Product Licensing, back with our wrap-up for all of the happenings on Day 2 of the 2008 Hardware Expo and Construction Products Exhibit. Traffic at the event continued at a brisk pace for the duration of Saturday afternoon and evening at the Puerto Rico Convention Center according to our trade show contingent, and a conversation with the representative of a company specializing in all types of trucking accessory highlighted the latter part of the day.

The company representative was intrigued at the possibilities that Licensing Direct™’s Innovation Direct™ program offers, and emphasized that his company would certainly be receptive to begin receiving new product idea information on an ongoing basis. The company currently manufactures and markets all types of products for light trucks and vans, and are open to expanding their lines if the right item comes along.

We are pleased to close out Day 2 with a tangible example of how it is entirely possible to meet a company that is in an industry that falls somewhat outside the official theme of a show, further substantiating Licensing Direct™’s belief that all of the trade shows we attend can present potential opportunity for any invention on our roster.

Join us Sunday for the details on the final day of this event!
